| | Fans, be prepared - Dragon Ball the Movie is coming! | | Okay, I'm not a great fan of this series but this news is BIG! ANN posted recently:"Twentieth Century Fox has officially announced that it signed director James Wong (Final Destination, X-Files television series, The One) and casted twenty-five-year-old Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds, The Invisible, Lost television series) in the lead role of Goku for the movie adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball action manga. According to the Variety newspaper, filming is set to begin this month, and the film is slated to open worldwide on August 15, 2008. James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Spike, Smallville's Brainiac) will play the antagonist piccolo, and Stephen Chow, of Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer fame, is producing the project.
Wong will not only direct the film, but he also rewrote an earlier script that was submitted by Ben Ramsey (The Big Hit). According to The Hollywood Reporter newspaper, the story centers around the alien Goku as an adult as he protects Earth — the very planet he was sent to destroy. | | Kameee, Hameee Waaave!!! Dragonball into a live action movie!!! | | dragonball fans!!! Dragonball will be made into a live action movie next year! read it in the papers! Hongkong comedian and director Stephen Chow will produce the movie for 20th Century Fox and James Wong, director of Final Destination will direct the movie. But what is this! A canadian will portray the role of Son Goku!!! Justin Chatwin will play the lead role, as Son Goku. i am so disappointed and aghast! i mean, i don't have anything against Canadians, but i think it would be better if all the actors in the movie will all be Asian! or am i being too idealistic?? i just thought it would be awesome if Asian superstars will appear in the movie since Dragonball is an anime. a Japanese cartoon for that matter. or it could have been Stephen Chow playing Goku!
