Set your climate control for "tropical" - because Sade offers breezy, exotic sounds from the tasteful and sunny side of the street. Ms. Sade Adu gently swings and sways over the latin rhythms supplied by the band. It's got the pop jazz elements of Michael Franks or Dave Grusin with Sade's pipes adding the velvety lounge flavorings. And by the way, - it's pronounced shar-day.
Lovers Rock is the first collection of new work by Sade in eight years. But it's a record that says less about those years gone by than the promise and vitality of the here and now. It's an album that's by turns moving, elegiac and beautiful. Like the tender, acoustic guitar-driven first single, 'By Your Side', a song about the tensile strength of love, it is music stripped back to its essential elements: voice, melody, and meticulously arranged instrumentation. I play the acoustic guitar and have tried my hand at the drums. The drums are a little too large for me and I've never been too comfortable with it. Love playing the guitar thought - although am not sure if anyone who hears me play it will agree!!

I've been listening to the Hillsongs album "Ultimate Worship" whoch is a live compilation album. It ranges from lively fast-paced numbers to soft melodious ones.
The song I'm listening to now is "Better than Life" - starts off with some acoustic guitar strumming and builds onto a very catchy song with great vocals and guitars. | |

John first played guitar at age 8 when he noticed his sister (who was taking organ lessons at the time) was allowed to stay up past her bed time to practice. He soon dropped it when his plan failed. At age 12, he began playing again when he was invited into the band of his friend Kevin Moore, who would later become the first keyboardist of Dream Theater. John began to practice in earnest whilst exercising physically. He was a largely self-taught guitarist who developed his skills through attempts to match the skill of his idols, who included Steve Morse, Steve Howe, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Al Di Meola, Alex Lifeson, Dave Murray, and Allan Holdsworth. He has jokingly referred to his guitar idols as "the Steves and the Als".
